Eye Monitoring vs Head-Nod Detection

Eye closure and head movement each provide partial evidence. Combining signals can reduce some errors, but neither proves or excludes microsleep.

Detection

Ask what signal is measured: scheduled inactivity, camera-visible eyes, head position, wearable motion, or vehicle behaviour. Each has blind spots.

Privacy and runtime

Check whether frames or biometric data leave the device, whether an account is required, and whether monitoring continues when another app is in front.

Alerts and controls

Compare test alarms, sound randomisation, haptics, custom recordings, sensitivity controls, and a clear way to acknowledge or stop an alert.

Safety honesty

Prefer products that publish limitations and do not claim to make fatigued driving safe. Built-in vehicle systems should be used according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
